چکیده

Polymer based conductive and transparent thin films are an important class of functional materials at the heart flexible organic electronic devices. These prone to degradation mechanical instability leading formation blisters, wrinkles, cracks. This is detrimental their use especially in case multilayer Here, it shown that a simple water or solvent drop deposited on such gives rise buckling several folds due tendency these swell contact with solvent. A phase diagram portraying its domain existence, thus means inhibit it, proposed. By depositing drops observing instability, material parameters as elastic modulus energy adhesion substrate can be estimated reliably. Further, harnessed pattern surfaces low cost giving percolated more pathways polymer under scrutiny.

Capillary wrinkling of floating thin polymer films.

A freely floating polymer film, tens of nanometers in thickness, wrinkles under the capillary force exerted by a drop of water placed on its surface. The wrinkling pattern is characterized by the number and length of the wrinkles. The dependence of the number of wrinkles on the elastic properties of the film and on the capillary force exerted by the drop confirms recent theoretical predictions ...

Undulatory delamination of thin polymer films on gold surfaces.

Using two-dimensional surface plasmon resonance measurements, we have observed the formation of traveling waves in the delamination of thin films of polydimethylsilane (PDMS) exposed to methanol. Films were spin-coated on a gold surface and the methanol was added to the top surface. The stress-induced instability caused by the swelling of the PDMS thin film when its edge is pinned to the gold s...

Wrinkling of Ultrathin Polymer Films

This paper presents a bilayer model to account for surface effects on the wrinkling of ultrathin polymer films. Assuming a surface layer of finite thickness, effects of surface properties on the critical strain, the equilibrium wavelength, and the wrinkle amplitude are discussed in comparison with conventional analysis. Experimental measurements of wrinkling in polymer films with thickness rang...

Concomitant wrinkling and buckle-delamination of elastic thin films on compliant substrates

Compressing a thin elastic film attached to a thick compliant substrate can lead to buckling instability. Two commonly observed buckling modes, buckle-delamination and wrinkling, have each been analyzed separately in previous studies. Recent experiments have observed that the two modes can co-exist and co-evolve. In this paper, by analytical and finite element methods, we present a study on con...
